Actian Extends Exclusive Partnership With AG-TECH Corporation to Deliver Ingres Enterprise Class Database to Japan

PALO ALTO, Calif. – Dec. 13, 2016 – AG-TECH Corporation, a developer and distributor of PC Software (Head Office: Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo / Representative Director and CEO: Yoshio Ando), and Actian Corporation a leader in data management and data integration solutions (Head Office: Palo Alto, California, U.S.A), today announced that they have extended their partnership to develop and sell a Japanese version of the Actian Ingres enterprise-class database and related services to the Japanese market. The partnership means that for the first time Japanese customers will have access to and benefit from the Actian lower total cost of ownership (TCO) commercial enterprise-class OLTP (Online Transaction Processing) database.

Martin Sims, CTO, AG-TECH Corporation says: “The development and release of a low-TCO enterprise-class OLTP database such as Ingres is a significant step for the Japanese market. High purchase prices and prohibitively expensive running and maintenance costs have become an increasing issue for both end-users and system integrators proposing database solutions. By partnering with Actian we’ll be able to provide customers with an alternative enterprise-class database offering that delivers lower TCO, faster ‘Time to Value’ and lower administration costs than those currently available on the market.”

The Japanese version of Ingres will be compatible with Japanese OSs, data and metadata, have localized Japanese installers and utilities and Japanese documentation and be backed up by AG-TECH’s local Japanese support services, sales and marketing teams. AG-TECH is now recruiting a network of local Japanese sales partners that will offer Ingres product sales, technical support, consulting and training.

Brad Crosby, SVP Sales, Actian Says: “Actian and AG-TECH Corporation have enjoyed a successful partnership for over 20 years. This new agreement complements our existing relationship and means Actian will be able to extend its range of offerings in Japan to include the enterprise-class OLTP database market. This will open a brand new geographic enterprise market for Actian, enabling us to take advantage of new untapped revenue streams.”

Joint development of an Ingres version suitable for the Japanese market is underway with the first release planned for early summer 2017. Pricing will be based on a license model that ensures it’s competitive in the Japanese enterprise-level OLTP database market.
