What do I need for an easy evaluation?
You will need a copy of the Vector product, license key, evaluation sample data and helpful tool. By filling in the free trial form on this page, you will be able to see all the links on the thank you page and receive an email.
How much time does it take to try Vector?
This video shows you how to install the database, load the sample data and run the sample queries. The product takes 15 minutes to install. The sample data takes 20 minutes to load and the queries should take less than 5 minutes to run.
How do I get support?
When you sign up for the free trial an Actian representative will follow-up within a day to see how you are progressing. Support will be provided by the community website and by emailing results@actian.com. There are also weekly overview demos and webinars where you can ask questions as part of the Q&A segment. You will receive invites to these as part of your welcome call.
How do I calculate how much faster Vector is?
Actian provides a sample data set with more than 185 million rows to load into vector and SQL Servers. The evaluation tools zip file also has sample DDL and SQL to use with both databases. A supplied spreadsheet calculates the speed-up you achieve with Vector.
What is the speed-up challenge?
After you have used the supplied spreadsheet to calculate your speed-up, you can email it to results@actian.com. Your results will be posted to the challenge leader-board. Every month prizes will be awarded to the top performers.
