Actian and Viada Bring Analytics to German ‘Under-Served Majority’
Vectorwise adds speed and efficiency to the IT service provider’s portfolio
CeBIT, Hanover, Germany – March 8th, 2012 – Actian Corporation today announced that it has signed a strategic partner agreement with Viada GmbH & Co. KG, an IT service provider that offers custom made software development and project implementation. In addition to designing and developing Java Enterprise based IT solutions, Viada will now offer Actian Vectorwise and the company’s data warehouse and management and business intelligence (BI) capabilities as part of its portfolio. The foundation of this agreement is the collaboration that both companies have with Red Hat, the world's leading provider of open source solutions.
Based in Dortmund (Germany), Viada designs and implements customer-specific software solutions across a wide range of industries. For the optimum implementation of its software solutions, Viada specializes in technologies such as application servers, workflow management systems, business rules management systems, portal servers and high availability clustering, using JBoss Enterprise Middleware, a leading software solution from Red Hat, for mission-critical applications in a service-oriented architecture (SOA). The partnership with Actian strengthens Viada’s IT portfolio with the industry’s fastest and most cost-effective analytic database engine, Vectorwise and allows Viada to meet the rising demand for tailored data warehouse and management solutions. With Vectorwise, Viada is perfectly placed to meet the needs of organizations that have not previously used a database management and analytics system.
Actian’s collaboration with Red Hat, signed in 2008, is at the heart of Viada’s decision to select Actian’s turbo-charged data analytics technology. As Viada is a Red Hat Premier Business Partner and winner of the “EMEA Middleware Partner of the Year 2010” award, it had already seen the power of Actian’s cost effective and performance fueled database technology.

About the collaboration of Actian with Red Hat
The collaboration between Actian and Red Hat dates back to 2008. Red Hat and Actian combined their proven enterprise solutions in order to offer their partners a powerful solution stack. The combination of the three core components, including the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 operating system, the Ingres database and JBoss Enterprise Middleware, provided partners with a cost-effective and solution-independent platform on which additional applications can be built to meet project and customer requirements. Moreover, Actian took an active part in organizing the 2009 Red Hat & JBoss EMEA Partner Summit and provided practical examples of current trends and technologies from the Open Source industry. In 2010, Actian also joined IBM as a main sponsor of the Red Hat & JBoss EMEA Partner Summit.
