High performance analytic database underpins leading online marketing application vendor’s SaaS-based web analytics and segmentation tool

(“Actian”), a next-generation leader in big data management, today announced that Visilabs Visitor Laboratory (“Visilabs”) has selected Actian Vectorwise, the high performance analytic database, in order to power its web analytics and segmentation solution called “Segment”. Founded in 2000, Visilabs offers a full suite of applications that addresses the needs of online marketers in Turkey.
Segment offers organizations the ability to report not only on website activity but also on visitors at the individual level that access content. Visitors that interact with web content are logged and tracked by the application running on Actian Vectorwise and, via a web-based front-end interface, users of Segment can interrogate logs and information to find out a specific visitor’s activity as opposed to just webpages accessed or the number of pages served.
Available on mobile as well as desktop devices, Segment allows users to get started immediately with web and user analytics and segmentation. Consequently, the application has been successfully adopted by leading Turkish companies, ranging from financial services to telecom operators as well as numerous e-commerce firms. However, given the large volumes of data that Segment generates and manages, Visilabs decided to change the underlying database of its Segment solution from a well-known relational database to Actian Vectorwise.
“We were running into problems with our existing relational database solution as the analytic performance levels were no longer acceptable as data volumes grew,” explains Efe Aras, general manager of Visilabs. “To enable complete user satisfaction with Segment, we need to ensure that analytic queries are answered and satisfied in less than 10 seconds. So we decided to look for another database to power Segment and following a period of testing, we were so taken aback by the speed and analytic performance of Vectorwise that it seemed to be the perfect fit for our Segment offering.”
