Redwood City, CA, April 7, 2011 – Ingres Corporation, pioneers of the breakthrough analytic database, Vectorwise, today announced that David Murphy has been appointed to the company’s Board of Directors.
Murphy has a successful track record creating value in technology companies. He retired from Hewlett Packard in February 2010, having served as a senior vice president of the LaserJet & Enterprise printing business unit which had several thousand employees and in excess of $10B in revenue. Murphy drove the printing group’s web service and software growth including Snapfish, Logoworks, Tabblo, HP Halo Collaboration Studios, as well as other efforts in areas such as digital entertainment services and retail photo solutions. Prior to joining HP, Murphy was chief financial officer and senior vice president for Mercury Interactive, where he led the company’s finance operations and acquisitions of software companies such as Systinet, Kintana, Appilog and Performant into Mercury’s Business Technology Optimization portfolio. Earlier in his career, he was CEO of Asera, president & general manager of IBM Tivoli Systems, and a partner at McKinsey & Company.
Murphy currently serves as an Executive-in-Residence at Columbia University where he is focused on new business ventures and technology transfer primarily from the School of Engineering and Applied Science.
