Actian inks reseller agreement with COME Computer Systeme GmbH to offer Actian Vectorwise

Swiss BI solution provider adds record-breaking database for high performance big data analytics to product and services portfolio

Frick, Switzerland and Langen, Germany, 29 May 2013 –Actian Corp. (“Actian”), a next-generation leader in big data management, today announced that the company has signed a reseller agreement with COME Computer Systeme GmbH, a BI solution provider in Switzerland.

Under the terms of the reseller agreement, COME Computer Systeme GmbH will offer Actian Vectorwise, the fast database for high performance big data analytics, to organizations throughout the Swiss Federation as well as the U.K. via its sister firm, Emergent Innovation Ltd. Consequently, the agreement gives Actian access to a new community of businesses that are seeking get more value from their data volumes, easily and affordably.

COME Computer Systeme GmbH cites the high performance of Vectorwise and the attractive cost model as key reasons for choosing to offer the analytic database to its client base in Switzerland and the U.K. Following an extensive demonstration of Vectorwise, the firm was convinced of the solution’s performance advantages and chose to add it to its big data analytics product and services portfolio.

“Our clients are actively looking for fast data analytics and reporting engines in order to satisfy their requirements to make sense of their complex data volumes and turn their big data into business value,” comments Kaveh Mossavati, CEO of COME Computer Systeme GmbH. “When you offer an analytic database solution to a client, there has to be an advantage for them, there has to be a compelling reason why they should choose then to implement it. When we saw the power of Vectorwise, the immediate advantages we saw were the cost of the solution as well as the analytic performance and agility of the database.”

“With Vectorwise, our clients can achieve better analytic performance on huge data volumes at a fraction of the cost of competing solutions,” continues Mossavati. “Also, with Vectorwise, they have a database that scales effortlessly and at a very attractive cost-effective price point. Clients are cost-sensitive as they try to optimize their OpEx spend instead of relying on CapEx; it’s reassuring to both us and our client base that Vectorwise is the database solution that can lower their database running costs over time.”

As an existing Informatica and MicroStrategy partner, COME Computer Systeme GmbH will offer Vectorwise as a complementary engine to both ETL and business intelligence and reporting tools, thereby giving organizations the opportunity to reap the benefits of a comprehensive BI reporting and ad-hoc analytic solution.

“The ability for organizations to connect to various data sources, analyze data and then act upon the insights gleaned is key if they are to turn big data into big value,” said Dr. Marcus Menzel, country manager CEMEA at Actian Corporation. “We are delighted to be working together with COME Computer Systeme GmbH and its sister firm Emergent Innovation Ltd in order to bring the benefits of Actian technology to yet more organizations who are in need of fast BI, analytics and reporting in order to understand and monetize their increasing data volumes.”
